We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Service Configuration and Asset Management Manager to join our IT Service Management team at Cabot Group. The purpose of this role is to lead and manage the ITIL-aligned practices of IT Service Configuration Management and IT Asset Management (Hardware & Software) across the Cabot Group. The role is responsible for ensuring that all IT assets and configuration items (CIs) are accurately recorded, maintained, and governed effectively throughout their lifecycle.

A key focus of this role is to champion the strategic value of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), raising awareness, building capability, and embedding its usage across teams. This is essential to ensure the CMDB becomes a trusted source of truth that supports effective service management, delivery, compliance, and informed strategic decision-making.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Define, implement, maintain and continually improve policies, standards, processes and procedures for service configuration management, hardware asset management, software asset management.
  • Develop and maintain the structure, approach and management for the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
  • Lead and govern automated discovery, service mapping, and dependency management to enable holistic end-to-end visibility.
  • Ensure proper identification, control, recording, reporting, auditing, and verification of IT assets and configuration items.
  • Ensure CMDB alignment with common service data model (CSDM).
  • Perform regular audits and reconcile discrepancies in the CMDB and asset database.
  • Ensure compliance with all configuration management, and asset management processes and work closely with other IT functions to maintain the integrity of the relevant CMDB and Asset Database.
  • Support individual engineering teams in the end-to-end asset lifecycle.
  • Work with procurement and finance to develop and to manage asset budgets and contracts.
  • Work with various practices and stakeholders that consume CMDB and Asset Data to ensure value realisation from both CMDB and Asset databases.
  • Measure and report on the success of both Service Configuration Management and IT Asset Management (Hardware & Software) practices, using industry best practice KPI and PSF.
Key Working Relationships & Communications
  • Internal: Business Continuity, Encore/Group IT Risk and Control, Enterprise Architecture, Enterprise Risk & Compliance, Global Information Security team, Global Infrastructure & Shared Services (GISS), Internal Audit, IT Operations.
  • External: External Audit, Service Providers & Professional Services.
Person specification:
  • Formal Education & Certification: Degree educated. ITIL 3 or above certification, ideally at intermediate or expert level.
  • Knowledge & Experience: 7 years of experience leading service configuration and asset management (hardware & software) practices, preferably within the financial services sector and in a global environment. 5 years of demonstrated experience adopting and implementing ITSM best practices (ITIL). Extensive experience of operating ServiceNow to support SCM and ITAM practices. Knowledge of industry best practice such as ITIL, DevOps, ISO20000. Experience working in a regulated industry, preferably in the financial sector. Working knowledge of the common service data model (CSDM).
  • Personal Attributes: Ability to multitask; used to working under pressure and owning problems through to resolution; ability to meet strict deadlines. Strong customer focus with the drive and commitment to improve the level of service clients receive (internal/external). Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and influence stakeholders and decision makers at all levels. Strong drive for results to ensure actions and objectives are delivered in a timely manner.
