To work as a member of the Nursery team and to establish caring, effective relationships with children, staff and parents;
To take on the role and undertake the duties of a keyperson;
To observe children’s learning, and in consultation with the Nursery team, to plan appropriate learning experiences for the children based on the information gathered;
To contribute to the recording and reporting of assessment information;
To encourage children’s language development and to be aware of ways to stimulate language through play, books, stories and personal interaction;
To be responsible for working with children in both the indoor and outdoor play areas;
To encourage the children to participate in the preparation of snacks and, when involved in supervising mealtimes, to be aware of the social and emotional needs of the children;
To undertake procedures relating to the personal care and hygiene of individual children where necessary;
To be responsible for small groups of children on organised outings;
To safeguard the health, safety, wellbeing and welfare of the children;
To be able to contribute individual skills and interests in music, drama, movement, literature and environmental studies as appropriate;
To be responsible for setting up and clearing equipment in indoor and outdoor areas and to contribute to the basic maintenance and care of equipment;
To participate in out of hours staff meetings in order to ensure the smooth and efficient running and ongoing development of the Nursery;
To take part in the Nursery staff development programme and Professional Review and Development Programme;
To carry out other reasonable duties assigned by the Nursery Manager
