As an experienced Procurement Buyer, your role is to be responsible for executing day-to-day procurement activities that support manufacturing operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective purchase of materials, components, and services. Your responsibilities include maintaining production continuity by managing supplier orders, monitoring delivery schedules, and resolving supply issues.
Responsibilities
- Create and manage purchase orders for raw materials, components, and outsourced assemblies in line with production schedules.
- Communicate with suppliers to confirm order acknowledgements, delivery dates, and shipment details.
- Expedite or defer orders as needed to align with changing demand and production priorities.
- Monitor supplier performance on delivery and responsiveness, and elevate issues when required.
- Collaborate with planning, production, and warehouse teams to ensure material availability and inventory accuracy.
- Support onboarding of new suppliers and contract manufacturers by setting up purchasing and transactional processes.
- Track and resolve supply issues, including shortages, delays, quality concerns, and invoice discrepancies.
- Support cost control initiatives by identifying opportunities for savings and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience purchasing direct materials or managing suppliers in a manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with outsourced assemblies or contract manufacturing environments.
- Working knowledge of Incoterms, logistics, and international purchasing.
