Join Barclays’ Payment Gateway Team as a Team Manager and help shape the future of digital payments. In this role, you will lead a high-performing team of support and technical specialists responsible for the delivery, stability and continuous improvement of our payment gateway services. You will work across business and technology teams to ensure customers and merchants receive secure, reliable and seamless payment services.
This is a key role during a period of significant change and transformation. The focus is on strong people leadership, colleague engagement and the ability to lead teams through change while maintaining operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of support and technical specialists delivering payment gateway services.
- Ensure customers and merchants receive secure, reliable, and seamless payment services.
- Maintain operational performance during significant change and transformation.
- Guide the team in a Monday-to-Friday hybrid schedule while overseeing a 24/7, 365-day rota.
- Provide visible leadership and effective oversight of an always-on support model.
- Travel at least quarterly, with expenses reimbursed per company policy.
- Support business operations and align with SLAs, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Select and manage KPIs to measure the effectiveness of operational functions.
- Create a safe environment that encourages feedback and fosters a people-centered agenda.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and service providers.
- Manage attrition by working with HR on retention initiatives.
Qualifications
- At least one year of people management experience, with a track record of leading and developing teams through change.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience driving colleague engagement, performance and motivation within operational teams.
Highly Valued Skills
- Experience within payments, transaction processing or gateway environments.
- Understanding of payment gateways or merchant services.
- Exposure to incident management, service recovery or operational resilience.
Accountabilities
- Identify trends and opportunities to improve processes through monitoring and analysis of operational data.
- Manage operations for a business area and promote efficient processes, risk management and compliance initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (business leaders, project managers, SMEs) and external stakeholders (vendors, service providers) to support business operations and ensure alignment with objectives and SLAs.
- Provide guidance, coaching and support to operational professionals to improve delivery quality.
- Develop KPIs to measure effectiveness, utilising data and technology for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies related to customer experience.
- Create a safe environment for colleagues to speak up, actively soliciting feedback.
- Work with HR on retention initiatives to manage attrition.
