This is a 12 Month fixed term contract. We’re Kingfisher, an organization of over 74,000 passionate people who bring the Kingfisher brand and its affiliated brands to life. Guided by the purpose “Better Homes. Better Lives. For Everyone.” We’re recruiting an External Communications Officer to join the External Corporate Affairs function and help grow and protect Kingfisher’s reputation.
Responsibilities
- Create static (written and visual) and video content and publish it through Kingfisher’s digital communications channels, such as the company’s website and social media channels (LinkedIn and TikTok).
- Work collaboratively with different parts of the business to uncover interesting stories from across the business to share via media and digital, aligning them to the overall strategy.
- Maintain a rolling communications activity calendar that produces a regular drumbeat of news and announcements.
- Support the team in communication projects such as campaigns, website developments, social media content, media events, speeches, crisis work and financial results, as necessary.
- Support on the development of the social media strategy.
- Support on the creation and development of the annual report.
- Own and manage LinkedIn paid media—including budget, audiences, and identifying opportunities for new types of ads.
- Own and manage the corporate website, agency and support continual development.
- Produce quarterly media evaluation and digital listening reports in conjunction with agency providers.
- Process the department’s invoices for payment and maintain an accurate budget tracker.
- Arrange internal, agency and communications network meetings and maintain accurate records of actions.
- Support media relations colleagues on media engagement, as well as wider Corporate Affairs objectives.
Qualifications
- Experience in a corporate and/or consumer communications role gained either at an agency or in‑house.
- Experience should ideally include some work in corporate reputation and online/digital communications as well as exposure to other communications functions.
- Experience creating written and multimedia communications with adaptable style for relevant audiences, e.g., vlogs, podcasts, website content, social media content, videos, quotes, press releases, blogs.
- Website editing and filming experience.
- Experience working with Adobe In‑Design and video editing software.
- Strong project management skills.
- A collaborative approach to working with others, fostering good working relationships with peers and senior management.
- Good time management and ability to work on multiple projects.
- Attention to detail and an eye for accuracy.
