We are looking for an Infrastructure Programme Manager to join us, to take accountability for managing one or more technology programmes (programme budgets ranging from £100k‑£6m), and leading a team of Project Managers.

This role will specifically be managing programmes with an end‑user computing and core data centres focus, where you will be responsible for scoping, building and delivering programme plans and liaising with key teams and stakeholders across Group Technology and the wider business to effectively manage new project demand and priority changes.

This role will be based out of our B&Q office just outside Southampton, with an expectation of 12 days a month in the office.

Travel to other locations (across the UK and Europe) may be needed depending on project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining programme and resource plan(s).
  • Accountable for the clarity of project scope and accuracy of resource & budget estimations.
  • Ensuring that effective programme governance is in place and progress is tracked and accurately reported.
  • Responsible for ensuring that programme risks are fully mitigated by implementing, maintaining and supporting risk management plans.

Acting as the escalation point for any project/programme risks and issues.

  • Managing key stakeholders through effective communication, identifying key issues and providing actionable insights to enable effective decision‑making.
  • Managing the programme’s budget with clear and accurate forecasting.
  • Managing, developing & mentoring team members.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience of leading complex infrastructure programmes (ideally with direct experience leading end‑user computing/data centres projects/programmes).
  • Experience working to recognised project/programme management methodologies.
  • A broad technical background with the ability to navigate diverse technology challenges.
  • Experience with risk and issue management.
  • Well‑developed understanding of financial management processes and cycles, including forecasting, capitalisation, budgeting etc.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage, connect and influence at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to build, lead and motivate a diverse team of IT professionals, in a matrix resource model.
  • How We Work

We believe in flexibility and balance.

Our hybrid model blends home working for focus with time spent connecting and collaborating – whether in our offices or at off‑site locations.

On average, around 60% of your time will involve in‑person collaboration.
