As a Project Manager, you will take ownership of and lead construction projects at Heathrow. This may include shaping requirements with stakeholders, developing scope and design, building the business case, or working with contractors to oversee the safe delivery of construction works across the Terminals and Airfield. The role involves working in partnership with senior leaders across the organisation to help shape strategies and delivery plans that enable the successful implementation of solutions.
Responsibilities
- Delivering defined project work packages to agreed scope, schedule, cost, and quality, maintaining core project controls (including risk, schedule, cost, and change), and escalating issues where required.
- Progressing projects through governance gateways in line with the Heathrow Gateway Lifecycle, ensuring robust documentation.
- Coordinating design and technical inputs across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring requirements are clearly understood, design changes are effectively controlled, and operational and regulatory needs fully incorporated.
- Following agreed governance processes, making sure safety, sustainability, and compliance requirements are met, and that all required documents are prepared to the expected standard.
- Building positive working relationships with stakeholders, clearly sharing updates on progress, risks, and impacts, and supporting meetings such as workshops, design reviews, and site visits.
- Supporting commercial and contract management activities, including administering change, monitoring supplier performance, reviewing valuations, and contributing to procurement exercises.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of project controls, including developing project forecasts and understanding earned value, programme reliability, projected outturn costs etc.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, coordinate effectively, and manage stakeholders.
- Experience in project planning, including developing schedules from first principles, reviewing and challenging contractor programmes, and working with P6.
- Managing project risk, including identifying, assessing, and developing mitigation strategies, with evidence of successful application to support project delivery.
- Commercial awareness and experience working within a contractual environment.
- Capability to solve problems, with well-developed analytical and numerical skills.
Ideally you will have a Degree qualification in an appropriate discipline, or equivalent academic achievement. Working towards APM Chartered Project Professional (CPP). Experience of aviation and/or delivering Infrastructure projects in a regulated environment.
