We are working with a secondary academy in Swanley that is going through an exciting period of development and is looking to appoint an experienced Senior School Administrator to join its team. The academy has recently moved into a brand new, state-of-the-art building, providing an excellent environment and outstanding facilities and resources for both pupils and staff. The school is also entering a new chapter, with a renewed focus on re-engaging with the local community, strengthening relationships with families and the wider area, and continuing to develop its staff. There is a strong emphasis on professional development, staff support and creating a positive environment in which colleagues can thrive. This is therefore an exciting time to join the academy and an opportunity to play an important role within its administrative team as the school continues to develop.
This is a broad and varied senior school administration role, supporting the smooth running of the academy and working across a range of administrative functions. The school is looking for someone who can bring breadth of experience rather than necessarily being a specialist in one particular area. Experience across areas such as:
- HR administration
- Attendance and absence
- Admissions
- Pupil records, school data and MIS
- Finance and payroll
- Examinations
- Senior leadership support
- General school office administration
You will not be expected to have experience in every one of these areas. Instead, the academy is looking for someone with a strong grounding in school administration who can take responsibility for a variety of tasks and adapt to the needs of a busy secondary school. The role will also involve working with staff, pupils, parents and external agencies and dealing appropriately with confidential and sensitive information.
We are looking for an experienced school administrator who has a good understanding of how a school office operates and who is comfortable working across different areas of administration. You will ideally have:
- A proven background in school-based administration
- Experience working within a busy school or academy office
- A good breadth of administrative experience
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good IT skills and experience using school information/MIS systems
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with staff, pupils, parents and external agencies
- The ability to handle confidential information appropriately
- A proactive and flexible approach to your work
- Experience across HR, attendance, finance/payroll, admissions, examinations, data or senior leadership support would be advantageous.
This is an opportunity to join an academy at an important point in its development, working in a brand-new, state-of-the-art environment and becoming part of a team focused on delivering positive change across the school. For an experienced school administrator looking for a role with variety, responsibility and the opportunity to develop their skills further, this could be an excellent next step. The school is looking to appoint as soon as possible. If you have the required school-based administrative experience and would like to find out more, please apply with an up-to-date CV.
Please note: only candidates with relevant school or academy administration experience will be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must have the existing right to work in the UK and be able to provide appropriate evidence of their eligibility to work. The appointment will be subject to the appropriate recruitment and safeguarding checks.
