Looking for more than just another Cover Supervisor role? We're looking for an exceptional individual to join our team as a permanent Cover Supervisor within a thriving secondary academy in Swanley.

This is an opportunity to become a valued member of the school community, working alongside experienced teachers and senior leaders to ensure every lesson remains purposeful, engaging and productive. Whether you're an experienced Cover Supervisor, Unqualified Teacher, Tutor or HLTA, or you've developed transferable skills through coaching, mentoring or working with young people, we'd love to hear from you.

For the right person, this role also offers an excellent foundation for a long-term career in education, with opportunities to gain wider classroom experience, develop professionally and, where appropriate, progress into teacher training or other leadership opportunities.

About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you'll supervise lessons across a range of subjects during the short-term absence of teaching staff, delivering pre-planned learning, maintaining high expectations for behaviour and ensuring students remain engaged and on track with their learning.

You'll quickly become a familiar and trusted member of the school community, building positive relationships with students and colleagues whilst contributing to the wider life of the academy. When not covering lessons, you'll work alongside departments and pastoral teams to support intervention programmes, student development and wider school initiatives.

We're looking for someone who:
  • Has previous experience working with children or young people in a school, tutoring, coaching or similar educational environment.
  • Has the confidence and presence to lead a classroom.
  • Builds positive relationships whilst maintaining high expectations.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally.
  • Remains calm, resilient and solution-focused.
  • Can manage behaviour consistently and positively.
  • Is passionate about helping young people succeed.
  • Wants to develop a long-term career within education.
We'd particularly welcome applications from:
  • Experienced Cover Supervisors
  • Unqualified Teachers
  • Tutors
  • Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs)
  • Behaviour or Learning Mentors
  • Teaching Assistants ready for the next step
  • Sports Coaches or Youth Workers with experience leading groups of young people
  • Graduates considering a career in teaching
Why Join?

This is an exciting time to join the academy. Having recently moved into a brand-new, state-of-the-art campus, the school is continuing to invest in both its students and its staff.

You'll join a supportive, ambitious team where professional development is genuinely encouraged, ideas are welcomed and talented individuals are given the opportunity to progress their careers.

This is far more than a classroom cover role. It's an opportunity to become an integral part of a school community that believes in high expectations, positive relationships and helping every young person achieve their potential.

If you're looking for a permanent role where you can make a real difference whilst continuing to develop your own career, we'd love to hear from you.
