We're working on behalf of a leading international consumer goods business to recruit a Shopper Marketing Controller. This is a high‑profile role sitting at the intersection of commercial, marketing and category teams, responsible for shaping and delivering best‑in‑class shopper activation strategies across some of the UK's largest grocery retailers.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced shopper marketing professional who enjoys combining strategic thinking with flawless execution. You'll play a key role in driving category growth, increasing brand visibility and delivering commercially impactful campaigns across both in‑store and online channels.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and lead omnichannel shopper marketing strategies across key retail customers
- Create and deliver annual shopper marketing plans aligned to commercial and brand objectives
- Manage shopper marketing investment and budgets, ensuring strong return on investment
- Lead the execution of retail media, in‑store activation and digital shopper campaigns
- Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Category and Insights teams to identify growth opportunities
- Build strong relationships with retailer contacts, agency partners and media providers
- Define campaign KPIs and performance measurement frameworks, using insights to drive continuous improvement
- Lead the development of customised activation solutions, POS materials and in‑store execution strategies
- Coach and develop members of the shopper marketing team while driving best practice across the function
- Influence senior stakeholders and help shape the wider customer and channel strategy
We're looking for a commercially‑minded shopper marketing professional with a proven track record of delivering successful activation programmes within FMCG or consumer goods businesses.
You will ideally have:
- Significant experience within Shopper Marketing, Customer Marketing or Retail Media
- Strong understanding of omnichannel activation, including both physical and digital touchpoints
- Excellent commercial acumen and the ability to evaluate campaign performance and ROI
- Strong stakeholder management skills and experience working cross‑functionally
- Previous leadership or people management experience would be advantageous
- A passion for understanding shopper behaviour and turning insight into action
- The next role the successful person goes into will likely be in marketing or commercial so the ideal person will show a breadth of experience beyond shopper marketing
