We’re currently recruiting for an HR Manager with an exciting, high growth food manufacturer. Reporting into the founder, this is a stand-alone role and will be a key hire to help the business go through a significant period of growth.
Key Responsibilities
- HR Strategy & Foundations
- Design and implement the company’s first HR framework, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with UK employment law.
- Establish core HR processes including onboarding, performance management, absence management, disciplinaries, and grievances.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the leadership team on all people-related matters.
- Employee Relations & Operations
- Provide day-to-day HR support to managers and employees across head office and manufacturing.
- Lead and manage employee relations cases, including absence, performance, disciplinary, and grievance matters.
- Support managers in building confident, consistent people management capability.
- Recruitment & Workforce Planning
- Own end-to-end recruitment for all roles, from factory-floor hires to head office positions.
- Develop structured hiring processes that support business growth and values-based recruitment.
- Support workforce planning for the manufacturing operation, including shift patterns and headcount planning.
- Learning, Development & Culture
- Support the development of managers through coaching, training, and practical HR guidance.
- Help shape and embed company culture, values, and ways of working.
- Introduce engagement initiatives and support internal communications.
- HR Systems & Data
- Own payroll end-to-end.
- Strong experience with ADP preferred.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR data.
- Produce people metrics and insights to support business decision-making.
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Work closely with operations to support people-related health and safety compliance.
- Ensure HR practices align with food manufacturing and operational requirements.
Person Specification
Experience
- Proven experience in a standalone or early-stage HR role, ideally within manufacturing, FMCG, or operational environments.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and hands-on employee relations experience.
- Experience setting up HR processes, policies, and systems from scratch.
