We're partnering with a leading FMCG business with a portfolio of well-known consumer brands that hold a strong position across UK grocery retail. As part of continued investment in their commercial function, they're looking to hire a Category Development Manager to help drive category growth with major retail customers. This is a highly visible role, working at the heart of the commercial team and partnering closely with Sales, Marketing and key customers to deliver category-led growth strategies. This opportunity would suit an experienced Category Development Executive or Category Manager who enjoys turning shopper and market data into compelling recommendations and wants to play a key role in influencing both internal and external stakeholders.

The Role

Reporting into the Category leadership team, you'll be responsible for developing category strategies, delivering insight-led recommendations and helping customers unlock growth opportunities within their categories. Key responsibilities include:

  • Building strong relationships with major grocery retail customers
  • Delivering category reviews, range recommendations and assortment strategies
  • Analysing shopper, customer and market data to identify growth opportunities
  • Leading promotional analysis and making recommendations to improve performance
  • Supporting distribution, ranging and space optimisation initiatives
  • Developing compelling insight-led presentations for customers and internal stakeholders
  • Partnering closely with Sales and Marketing teams to support commercial plans and new product launches
  • Tracking category performance and providing actionable recommendations to drive growth

About You

We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience within Category Development, Category Management or Category Strategy in an FMCG environment
  • Strong understanding of UK grocery retail
  • Experience using data sources such as NielsenIQ, Circana (IRI), Kantar or Dunnhumby
  • Strong analytical and commercial skills
  • The ability to turn complex data into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Excellent presentation and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint capability
  • A proactive, commercially minded approach
