Position: Customer Director – Leading Grocery Mults

Location: South East-Based

Package: Circa £120-£130k base + Package

We’re working on behalf of a global FMCG powerhouse who are looking for a Customer Director to take strategic ownership of one of its most important UK retail customers. This role is responsible for managing a leading grocery retailer, owning a nine-figure P&L, and leading a small but high-performing team to drive long-term commercial success. Sitting as part of the UK Commercial Leadership Team, this is a high-impact role with significant influence on the business’s broader commercial strategy.

The Role

  1. Own and drive the strategic agenda for a key UK grocery retailer, ensuring long-term partnership growth.
  2. Lead and develop a team, embedding a high-performance culture and strong customer engagement.
  3. Shape and execute the commercial strategy, balancing short-term revenue goals with long-term brand and category growth.
  4. Negotiate and deliver Joint Business Plans (JBPs), ensuring alignment between the customer and internal business priorities.
  5. Leverage cross-functional expertise, working closely with category, supply chain, and marketing to deliver excellence in execution.
  6. Represent the business at the highest levels, influencing both internally and externally to drive best-in-class collaboration.

The Ideal Candidate

  1. Proven experience leading a top UK grocery retail account at a senior level within a large-scale FMCG business.
  2. Strong strategic acumen, with a history of shaping and executing commercial growth strategies.
  3. Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to develop and inspire a high-performing team.
  4. A track record of delivering profitable growth, managing large P&L and complex retailer negotiations.
  5. Deep knowledge of the UK grocery retail landscape, shopper behavior, and category trends.
