The Maintenance Officer works with the Supported Housing teams in Gloucester and South Gloucestershire, Asset management team and contractors to ensure the buildings offer safe, good quality accommodation. The services are designed to help people who have experienced homelessness to find stable, long-term homes.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Identifying maintenance issues and undertaking basic repairs when appropriate.
  • Completing Health and Safety compliance of properties, ensuring that routine checks and necessary works are carried out in a timely and professional manner.
  • Liaison with contractors and suppliers to ensure their work is carried out to the standards required by the association.
  • Communicating in a professional manner with residents, Elim teams, and contractors to resolve issues swiftly.
  • Contributing towards achieving performance targets, specifically void and re-let times and utilisation.
  • Being responsible for compliance actions.
  • Providing reports or information as requested by Elim Management.
  • Recording all work conducted professionally and in line with Elim policies and procedures.
  • Using IT as appropriate for recording and reporting.
  • Seeking best value for money for the association.
  • Working across services as required to maintain service delivery, including travelling between schemes.
  • Maintaining clear and up-to-date records both written and electronically.
  • Holding a driving license and ability to work across support services locations.
  • Communicating effectively with residents, colleagues and contractors.

What you will need to be successful:

  • Ability to use your initiative while being an integral member of the supported housing team.
  • Proactive in identifying maintenance required and planning own work.
  • Work proactively and productively with others, asking for help or guidance when needed.
  • Communicate clearly and accurately with residents, colleagues, managers and external contractors/agencies.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements for supported and intensive housing management schemes.
  • Always reviewing your work and looking to improve it.
  • Understanding what Elim is trying to achieve and making a positive contribution to Elim’s vision.
  • Understanding own strengths and weaknesses and striving to improve performance.
  • Understanding value for money and always trying to achieve this in your area of responsibility.
  • Valid and current driving license needed.
