We are looking for two hardworking, creative and enthusiastic Design Runners to join our busy Hollyoaks Design Department. We have two opportunities to join us on fixed term contracts for either 3 months or 5-6 months, based in Liverpool. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the Set Dressing team, supporting the creation and maintenance of high-quality sets and locations that bring our production to life. The role is hands‑on, fast‑paced and ideal for someone looking to build a career within TV Design or Set Dressing.
The Role
As a Design Runner, you will provide practical and creative support to the Design Department, assisting Set Dressers with the dressing and de‑rigging of sets to ensure filming runs smoothly and efficiently. You will help prepare sets ready for shoot days, maintain continuity, transport furniture and props, and support the team with general logistics and administrative duties. The role involves working to tight deadlines and requires excellent organisation, communication and teamwork skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting Set Dressers with dressing sets and filming locations
- Matching dressing continuity using reference photographs
- Helping prepare and build character dressing props
- Collecting and returning furniture, props and set dressings
- Assisting with the de‑rigging and resetting of sets
- Supporting the Set Dressing office with administrative tasks
- Providing creative ideas and input into set dressing where appropriate
- Working collaboratively with Production, Construction, Painters, Graphics, Buyers and Shoot Crew
- Understanding and following call sheets and production schedules
- Undertaking manual handling and heavy lifting as required
- Supporting early and late shifts depending on production requirements
- Potential opportunities to step into temporary Set Dresser cover duties
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about television production and design
- Organised and proactive
- Comfortable with manual handling tasks
- A strong team player with excellent communication skills
- Creative, with a good eye for detail and continuity
- Able to work flexibly, including early and late shifts
- Interested in developing a career within Set Dressing or TV Design
Previous experience within TV is preferred.
