We are looking for a hardworking, organised and enthusiastic 3rd Assistant Director to join the Hollyoaks Production team in Liverpool. This is an exciting opportunity to support the Assistant Directors and wider production team in delivering high-quality television drama. The role is fast-paced and hands-on, requiring excellent communication, strong organisational skills and the ability to remain calm and focused in a busy production environment.

The Role

As a 3rd Assistant Director, you will support the 1st and 2nd Assistant Directors with the efficient running of studio and location shoots. You will help coordinate cast, crew and contributors, maintain the filming schedule and ensure that production runs smoothly, safely and to time. You will work closely with the Production, Floor Management, Editorial, Costume, Make-up, Locations and other departments. The role requires flexibility, initiative and a thorough understanding of the demands of continuing drama production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the 1st and 2nd Assistant Directors with the day-to-day running of studio and location filming
  • Assisting with the preparation and distribution of call sheets, schedules and daily production information
  • Coordinating cast, background artists, crew and contributors on set and on location
  • Organising cast movements, rehearsals, fittings, make-up, costume and set calls as required
  • Helping to maintain the filming schedule and communicating any changes clearly and promptly
  • Supporting the Assistant Directors during rehearsals, takes, resets and company moves
  • Ensuring cast and crew are in the right place at the right time for filming
  • Liaising effectively with production departments to support the smooth delivery of each shoot day
  • Assisting with the management of background artists, including briefing, holding and movement
  • Following production, health and safety, safeguarding and working-time procedures
  • Identifying and communicating potential delays, risks and logistical issues
  • Maintaining a professional, inclusive and collaborative working environment
  • Undertaking other duties appropriate to the role as required by the Assistant Directors

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in television drama, film production or a comparable screen production environment
  • Familiar with the responsibilities of a 3rd Assistant Director or similar production role
  • Highly organised, proactive and able to prioritise competing demands
  • A confident communicator who can work effectively with cast, crew and production teams
  • Calm under pressure and able to make practical decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable, adaptable and comfortable working to tight deadlines
  • Knowledgeable about production paperwork, call sheets, schedules and set protocols
  • Committed to health and safety, safeguarding and professional standards
  • A positive team player with a collaborative and can-do attitude
  • Flexible to work early starts, late finishes, weekends and location-based filming where required
