A private family is seeking an exceptional, experienced full-time nanny/governess (or similarly qualified childcare professional) to support the care and education of a 5-year-old child during a period of international relocation and transition. The position will be based in the UK during term-time, with holidays likely spent in the Bahamas. Accommodation can be provided in both the Bahamas and London.
Responsibilities
- Provide warm and consistent care, supporting the child’s emotional wellbeing through a period of significant change.
- Support structured early years education, with a focus on preparing for entry into the British curriculum (Key Stage 1).
- Establish and maintain a calm, predictable routine to promote security and development.
- Accompany the family on international travel between the Bahamas and London, adapting seamlessly to changing schedules.
- Provide homeschooling support, if appropriate, during time spent in the Bahamas (anticipated minimum of approximately 90 days per year in the initial phase).
- Act as a trusted and steady presence, fostering a secure and supportive environment.
- Work in close partnership with the parent, contributing insight and judgement to support decisions around the child’s emotional and educational needs.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, discretion, and flexibility at all times.
- Ideally light household management support to assist with overall organisation and smooth running of the home.
- Creative and healthy cook, able to encourage a healthy relationship with food.
Requirements
- Significant experience in a governess, career nanny, or educational role with young children.
- Strong background in emotionally intelligent care and regulation.
- Solid understanding of, or experience with, the British curriculum (Early Years / Key Stage 1).
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally and adapt to a fluid schedule.
- High degree of discretion, professionalism, and emotional intelligence.
- Confident, thoughtful communicator, able to contribute meaningfully to decisions regarding the child’s development and wellbeing.
- Experience in private households with international travel.
- Household management experience.
- Full driving licence, preferably.
- Able to spend majority of time in the Bahamas, with regular trips to the UK.
- Home-schooling experience.
- Very flexible approach – nothing is set in stone, yet, and there is likely to be very regular travel, some weekend work and extended periods spent away from the UK.
