We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter to join a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Stanford-le-Hope. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Fitter looking to join a stable company offering a Monday to Friday days-based role, excellent training opportunities, and long-term career progression.
The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across a range of production and site equipment. You will work closely with the engineering team to ensure machinery reliability, minimise downtime, and support continuous improvement projects across the site.
Non-Negotiable Requirements
- Recognised mechanical engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship or equivalent)
- Previous experience working as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
- Strong fault-finding and mechanical maintenance skills
- Experience working within an industrial, manufacturing, production or processing environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Requirements
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities
- Respond to mechanical breakdowns and equipment failures
- Diagnose and repair faults on conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, motors and associated equipment
- Assist with machinery installations and continuous improvement projects
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with company procedures
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
Desirable Requirements
- Welding or fabrication experience
- Experience using CMMS systems
- Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
- Experience within a heavy industrial or automated manufacturing environment
- Multi-skilled maintenance experience
