Reports to: Logistics Supervisor

Based: HQ in Huntingdon

Hours: Various shift patterns depending on demand, most commonly alternating DDS of 1 week early shift followed by 1 week late shift (9 day fortnight, rarely work Friday PM) – 38.75 hr Early shift 05:30 to 13:45 Mon‑Fri – 38.75 hr Late shift 13:45 to 00:00 Mon‑Wed, 13:45‑23:45 Thurs. Not required Friday. All shifts include 30 minute unpaid lunch break.

Holiday: 26 days paid annual leave plus bank holidays.

Term: Permanent contract (standard UK employment ‘6‑month probation’ applies).

Basic salary: £14.90 per hour

Job Purpose: Duties will involve the operation of a category B1 counterbalance forklift truck / reel truck, picking and packing of goods, loading/unloading trailers both in the yard area and also on the loading dock. Ensuring production machines are fed with the correct materials, pallets and sundries. Housekeeping, ensuring the warehouse is always kept clean.

Key Drivers for Role Success: Must work to a high standard of accuracy, communicate clearly and in a timely manner, prioritise and work according to department deadlines. To have pride in their work and a methodical approach to their tasks.

Primary Target: To ensure that all vehicles are loaded and unloaded in a timely safe manner whilst picking & allocating to location at a high degree of accuracy.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • The warehouse team focuses on receiving pallets from production lines and ensuring the safe delivery of the goods to the lorries for storage & delivery to customers.
  • We must adhere to warehouse layout plan & work with 3rd party storage & haulage providers.
  • The team is also responsible for replenishing production lines with material at all times to avoid downtime.
  • The role of a forklift driver involves but is not limited to the following duties:
    • Ensuring the health and safety policies of the site are upheld
    • Following banksman training to ensure safe manoeuvre of all vehicles on site
    • Loading and unloading materials from a variety of vehicles
    • Moving of materials around the site counterbalance, clamp extension
    • Performing equipment checks and basic maintenance
    • Adhering to all health and safety regulations
    • Checking the PO and FSC matches the delivery note, and lorry.
    • Moving waste bales ready for collection
    • Keeping a clean & safe environment (incl yard) removing rubbish & ensuring areas clean including changing of IBC’s, metal barrels, pallets and waste products such as ink etc.
    • Arranging transfers to offsite storage companies in time for dispatch, when required.
    • Ensuring the consumables are delivered to lineside to minimise downtime
    • Helping pick and pack Picking.com orders.
    • Stock takes
