Lightways (Contractors) Limited is a family run business with over 40 years of experience in streetlighting, surfacing, and reinstatement. Our Streetlighting division specialises in the installation and maintenance of all types of exterior lighting including street lighting on trunk roads, motorways and town and city streets, together with LED, decorative and festive lighting of buildings and monuments.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Streetlighting Contracts Manager to oversee and manage streetlighting operations for our clients, mainly those within the local authorities sectors. The successful candidate will ensure that works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality, while maintaining compliance with all industry regulations and client specifications.
The role is based from our Head Office in Larbert incorporating regular travel to sites across Scotland as required. The post is full-time, with weekend working a requirement. There may be a requirement for flexibility in hours and to work additional hours to meet the needs of the business.
Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule streetlighting works, ensuring alignment with client timelines and requirements
- Oversee day-to-day streetlighting operations
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations, including NRSWA and HSE standards
- Work with operational staff and leadership to ensure site documents are accurate
- Update relevant systems and trackers with job progress and detail, both internal and client specific
- Ensure proper documentation and certification of completed works
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to co-ordinate activities and resolve issues, maintaining good relationships with all
- Attend client meetings
- Undertake site audits
- Conduct site inspections and address any defects or non-conformance issues promptly
- Manage resources, including manpower, materials, and equipment to ensure efficiency
- Ensure site squads are equipped with work plans and have required equipment, PPE, and traffic management to undertake site works safely and to client specification
- Supervision of site squads
- Promote a strong health and safety culture across all activities, and ensure site squads adhere to applicable health, safety, and environmental procedure and requirements
- Provide support to the Operations Managers and Directors as required
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in managing streetlighting works
- Strong knowledge of streetlighting installation methods, materials, and industry standards
- Familiarity with NRSWA, NJUG guidelines, and other relevant regulations
- Understanding of SROR requirements
- Excellent organisation skills
- Strong leadership and communication abilities, with experience of managing teams and subcontractors
- Proficiency in preparing project documentation, including risk assessments, method statements, and progress reports
- Budget management and cost control experience
Qualifications
- SMSTS certification is desirable, though at least SSSTS certification is required
- Full Driving License
