Lightways (Contractors) Limited is a family run business with over 40 years of experience in streetlighting, surfacing, and reinstatement.Our reinstatement division specialises in delivering a surfacing and reinstatement service to local authorities, public utilities, and public utility contractors.
Our company has extensive experience in surfacing and reinstatement of carriageways and footways of all surface types including asphalt, bitmac, slabs, block paving, setts, and granolithic concrete.All construction works are carried out by our own staff –a valuable, trained, and qualified resource – and we would like you to join our team.
To meet the demands of our customers, we have a requirement to recruit experienced roadworkers to the roles of Road Operatives (Driver/Labourers), HGV Drivers, and Grab Drivers.We are looking to employe a number of versatile employees who can multitask to carry out a host of duties on various surface types in connection with road reinstatement and road ironwork re-setting and repair.Employees will be based from our Head Office in Larbert, though works will be undertaken at sites across Scotland.
Duties
Drive/operate vehicles or plant requiring general and specialist skills
Maintaining high technical standards
Attend project and work briefings as required
Undertake all aspects of highway maintenance works including carriageway and footway patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement, and drainage
Carry out vehicle checks due to shift starting, and correctly record and report any defects
Record driver hours appropriately
Follow Lightways’ Health & Safety Policy to ensure the safety of yourself, others, and the working environment
Schedule
The working hours for these roles will be nine hours per day, Monday to Friday inclusive.There is opportunity to work overtime, including weekends, as required.
The salary for these roles is dependent on experience.Lightways (Contractors) Limited is a Living Wage Employer.
The Ideal Candidates
Full driving licence is essential, with at least one year of driving experience
HGV Licence and relevant Driver CPC (for HGV Drivers/Grab Operators)
Clamshell licence/certification (for Grab Operators)
Experience in reinstatement and roadworks
Self-motivated
Positive attitude towards work
Willingness to learn and develop new skills
CSCS certification
Traffic management experience
HAUC accrediation
