We are looking for committed individuals from the local community, and from all walks of life and backgrounds to join our Schools Standards Board. We are looking for those who can share their viewpoints, experience, expertise, skills and fresh ideas to enhance the opportunities for our children and families within the community.

Your opportunity: We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to join one of our School Standards Board (SSB) at Lightwater Village School, for a four year period. As an SSB member, you will contribute to and monitor the school’s development plan, which is focused on the key improvement priorities for the school. SSBs are also the Trust Board’s interface with key stakeholders: parents, staff and the community. You will be involved in gathering and responding to feedback from parents and staff, and developing and maintaining community links for the school.

SSB members provide regular feedback to the Trust Board on the performance of their school and the feedback from stakeholders, contributing to the overall improvement of the Trust. SSBs also have the opportunity to influence the strategy of the Trust as a whole. Excellent training and support is provided and you don't need education experience.

What we are looking for: We are looking for somebody who:

  • thinks strategically, and is able to contribute to the development of the schools priorities,
  • is able to listen, reflect and learn from a range of viewpoints,
  • is able to establish clear expectations for school leaders,
  • has the ability to analyse and interpret data and statistics,
  • has the confidence to ask questions and challenge school leaders in an appropriate way.

Our school vision is that we will instil aspiration and high expectations to empower every child to become a successful citizen of the world through excellence in all that we do. Everything the SSB do has a role to play to make our vision a reality for pupils.

About GLF: GLF Schools is a dynamic and forward thinking Academy Trust with many career opportunities for new and existing staff. Each school in our Trust has its own individual identity, while benefiting from the expertise that comes from dedicated and experienced regional and Trust teams. Our schools serve to meet the needs of their own local community, yet all are united in their core purpose of providing an outstanding educational experience. We comprise 43 schools over 5 regions and 7 LA's with 35 primaries and 8 secondaries. Each region has access to a regional team that support our schools financially, operationally and with all HR/people matters.

The Details: Being a member of the SSB does require time commitment. SSB's meet formally once per half term (6 meetings across the academic year) and follow an annual work plan. You are also required to attend training and undertake school visits relevant to your areas of responsibility. While being a member of the SSB is a voluntary role, you will be able to claim for travel expenses if needed.
