What You’ll do (the role)
The legal team, with lawyers in London, Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Poland, Portugal, the US, Brazil, Singapore and Australia, specialises in corporate, construction, energy, finance, commercial and property law in the renewable energy sector, providing support across all the units of the business and all jurisdictions.
This role provides an exciting opportunity for a lawyer within a dynamic and changing business in a growth industry.
Duties and Responsibilities
You will provide legal support to the commercial Structured Finance, Treasury and Finance teams in delivering funding solutions at project and corporate levels, including
- Assisting with structuring and negotiating new facilities (corporate, project finance and LCs) and ancillary documents (security documents, guarantees, direct agreements, intercreditor agreements)
- Communicating within deal teams and managing external counsel
- Coordinating with junior support lender DD, KYC, CP satisfaction, execution and financial close process
- Assisting with management of existing facilities to ensure compliance with terms
- Liaising with all sectors of the business, including finance, tax and asset management.
- Ensuring compliance with internal policies and processes, including internal approvals
- Training, supervising and mentoring more junior members of the team
Who we’re looking for
Knowledge
- Experience in drafting and negotiating relevant finance agreements (for the UK and on a cross-border basis) and LMA standard documentation.
- Good working knowledge of UK and European financial regulations, and derivatives.
General Skills
- Strong business acumen with ability to assess and manage legal risk and offer commercial / practical considerations.
- Solid technical drafting skills and proven experience in respect of the documents and types of work covered in the ‘Duties and responsibilities’ section of this job description.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment with a diverse and often time pressured workload.
Experience
- Qualified lawyer with at least 5 years post-qualification experience in the UK or a similar common law jurisdiction.
- Excellent academic background and experience gained in leading international / mid to top tier firm or similar in-house role.
- Previous in-house experience is desired but not required.
- Experience in the renewable energy sector would be an advantage.
- Fluency in languages other than English are an advantage.
