What you’ll do (the role)
Summary
You will be supporting R&D projects focused on photovoltaic module performance and innovative technologies. You will analyse PV module field testing data, support on‑site implementation of further tests, and evaluate the use of PV modules as light and temperature sensors. Your work will inform Lightsource bp's technology strategy.
Responsibilities of the Role
- Management assistance for R&D projects
- Analyse performance data from field‑tested PV modules and provide technical recommendations for ongoing testing phases
- Modelling versus reality of using PV modules as light and temperature sensors
- Ongoing communication and meetings with others working on the projects
- Support on the Standardisation of engineering requirements to be included within LSbp portfolio
- Conduct Engineering analysis of new technologies
- Feedback to line manager and team
- At the end, deliver clear results, insights, and guidelines to the wider engineering team
Why you’ll make a great member of the team
Experience & Knowledge Required
- Knowledge or experience of renewable energy, solar PV, BESS or Wind
- Basic understanding of the main factors affecting solar PV site performance
- Ideally some research experience (which can be from within the bachelor’s or master’s degree)
Skills Required
- Project management
- Ability to practically apply engineering concepts
- Enjoyment of problem solving and analytics
- Microsoft office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Skills in Excel or other data analysis software (Python, PowerBI, R etc.)
- Knowledge of PVsyst is a bonus (but not essential)
- Team working
- Attention to detail
- Self‑motivated
- Fluency in written and spoken English
Education Required
Having or working towards a degree in physics or engineering (electrical/renewable energy preferred) from an accredited college/University.
