Lightning Fibre is looking for a Network Support Engineer as part of the escalation for the Technical Support team, troubleshooting and resolving more complex customer enquiries as they arise. You will be a point of contact for the Installations and Assurance engineers who are out in the field for their technical queries. You will also be working alongside the Network team to help test, document and roll out new network projects/upgrades.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Monitor our access and ISP networks, identifying and escalating issues to resolution.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to troubleshoot, manage and resolve customer-impacting incidents.
  • Provide technical support and advice for the customer support team, acting as an escalation point for more complex tickets, and providing training to support staff.
  • Visit customer properties where necessary to troubleshoot network/WiFi issues.
  • Provide a point of contact for our field engineers to advise with queries and resolve technical issues.
  • Work with the Networks team to help test, develop and document our offered services, and assist with the day-to-day running of the network.
  • Assist in the rollout of new network upgrades, performing testing, comparison and validation of these.
  • Participate in the on-call rota (including Saturdays) to provide essential support for the field engineers.

Requirements:

  • An understanding of computer networks and related technologies such as WiFi, ethernet switching, IP and higher-level protocols.
  • Aptitude for troubleshooting technical problems, working logically to rule out potential problems.
  • Comfortable communicating with customers, guiding them through troubleshooting steps, and explaining technical concepts in a clear concise manner.
  • Good at documenting solutions and supporting other team members including some training.
  • Driving licence.
