Requirements:
- Current certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists required
- Minimum one year hospital surgical background preferred
- High School graduate or equivalent (GED)
- Successful completion of Surgical Technologist Course or equivalent experience
- Possess a basic and thorough knowledge of the functions and philosophies of the OR Department
- Demonstrate knowledge of asepsis and sterile techniques
- Ability to work swiftly and skillfully under stressful circumstances
- Ability to work with a myriad of physicians
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment
- Ability to lift forty (40) pounds from floor to waist, and from chair to bed level
- Ability to pull fifty (50) pounds from stretcher to bed
- Ability to push fifty (50) pound stretcher 300 feet
- Ability to lift five (5) pounds overhead
- Demonstrates accurate judgment and decision-making ability consistent with Surgical Technologists knowledge and skills
