As an Online Engineer you will be responsible for designing and implementing solutions to large and complex networking problems. You will need to think creatively to solve these problems in a robust and scalable way, whilst always putting the player experience first. Internally you will be a champion for the multiplayer experience within the studio, pushing for higher quality at every opportunity, and actively seek out opportunities to learn from others to improve your technical and professional skills.

Key Duties Include:

  • Working closely with the design and technical teams to implement robust and scalable online solutions
  • Produce clean and robust code, following all standards and guidelines, including the use of automated testing processes
  • Working with first party network services such as PSN, Xbox Live, and Steam, and custom internal and 3rd party APIs, such as Playfab and OpenMatch
  • Establish online service features such as matchmaking, friends, and commerce
  • Champion quality within Lighthouse Games and our online services development
  • Seek out opportunities to improve your skills as a game developer
  • Actively take part in our collaborative and creative team spirit

Qualifications

  • Experience working in Online/Networking on one or more previous titles
  • Passion for all things multiplayer and online, with a drive to deliver a world class user experience
  • Solid understanding of code architecture best practices
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to plan and meet scheduled goals
  • Passion for gaming and game development

Desirable

  • Experience in Unreal Engine 4 or 5
  • Socket level experience
  • Experience in Web Development
  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes
