Lightfoots Solicitors has been at the heart of the community in Thame for 170 years. We are looking for an experienced Senior Legal Cashier to join their busy and friendly finance team in Thame, Oxfordshire. This role works together with the rest of the team to ensure the smooth and effective running of the department and closely works with fee earners and support roles within the Firm to process financial transactions.
We are seeking someone resilient and quick thinking with a “can do” approach and ability to multi-task in a high pressure role. The Finance team consists of Legal Cashiers and Legal Finance Assistants who work with and report to the Head Cashier and Finance Team Manager with the Chief Financial Officer heading up the Finance Department. The team work together to support each other in a fast paced, busy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting the Head Cashier and Finance Team Leader with the supervision and smooth running of the department
- General daily legal finance transactions including all payments and receipts
- Carrying out daily bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate ledgers
- Reconciliation of control accounts as required
- Providing guidance to junior members of the team
- Handling and resolving complex enquiries (internal only)
- Housekeeping of files, ledgers and processes to ensure compliance with the Solicitors' Accounts Rules
What we are looking for
- 4+ years strong experience working at a high level in a legal finance environment in compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules essential
- Experience of legal accounting systems and implementation of new systems / processes would be desirable.
- ILFM Diploma (strongly preferred) or support to undertake it given
- Proficiency in legal accounting software (previous use of SOS Practice Manager advantageous but not essential)
- Visualfiles CMS knowledge advantageous but not essential
- Accuracy & attention to detail with a methodical approach to work
- Excellent communication - face to face, telephone and written
- Proficient IT skills using Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to meet deadlines
