We have a new opportunity within our Employment Team at Lightfoots.
Due to growth, we are seeking an Employment Paralegal.
This role will assist solicitors with a range of employment matters including the conduct of employment tribunal claims (Claimant and Respondent), advising on settlement agreements, complex grievance and disciplinary proceedings, redundancy situations, discrimination and whistleblowing, reasonable adjustments and more.
This role may suit a HR professional who is interested in working in a legal setting and keen to progress as a legal advisor.
This role is based in our Thame Head Office and the working hours are Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm.
Key Responsibilities
• Draft and prepare legal documents such as
- witness statements
- claim forms and responses
- settlement agreements
- employment contracts
- staff handbooks and policies
- bundles for hearings
- Conduct legal research on employment legislation, case law, and procedural rules.
- Review, organise, and manage case files, disclosure documents, and correspondence.
- Liaise with clients, counsel, tribunals, and opposing parties in a professional manner.
- Monitor deadlines, maintain diaries, and ensure compliance with tribunal and court timetables.
- Support the preparation of cases for hearings, mediations, and settlement discussions.
- Attend meetings, take notes, and prepare attendance records or follow-up actions.
- Help with document review in matters involving workplace investigations, employee complaints, and internal HR disputes.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee and business information appropriately.
Skills And Qualifications
- Previous experience as an employment paralegal or HR / Employee Relations experience.
- Knowledge of employment law procedures and tribunal processes.
- Strong drafting, proofreading, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines efficiently.
- Good communication and client care skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information sensitively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience of using legal case management systems preferred but not essential.
