The NQ Solicitor is responsible for managing a Banking & Finance Litigation (comprising Receivership and Mortgage possession) under the guidance of the Senior Litigation Manager as well as assisting with the supervision of a Paralegal Team to support on non-standard cases.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a Banking & Finance Litigation caseload (which will be variable in accordance with capacity and business needs).
- Deal with urgent applications to court, such as applications to suspend warrants of possession.
- Advise Receivers on landlord and tenant matters and in particular strategies to obtain vacant possession of mortgaged property.
- Assist with day‑to‑day supervision and support to the Paralegal Team leader and Paralegals on Banking & Finance Litigation generally.
- First line support for Paralegal Team Leader and Paralegals for cases requiring legal input.
- Lead on planning cross training for the paralegal group to ensure ability to work on Receivership or Mortgage Litigation cases to a high standard.
- Ensure the paralegals in the team are maintaining their files in accordance with the Firm’s standards.
- Support the Partner (and IT development team) with any ongoing and/or requisite system developments.
- Assist the Senior Solicitors and Partner on more complex disputes, mis‑selling claims and breach of contract claims when taking these to trial or ADR, as required.
- Good knowledge of Banking & Finance Litigation.
- Strong drafting and analytical skills.
- Good commercial acumen with the awareness to balance risks, costs and client objectives appropriately.
- Strong organisational ability to manage and prioritise matters within a case load.
- Ability to train and develop team members.
- Ability to be proactive and handle a busy workload.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and work to deadlines.
