We are looking for a skilled AWS Cloud & Python Engineer to join our team, bridging the gap between application development and cloud infrastructure. In this role, you will own the full lifecycle of data transformation applications-writing clean, efficient Python code and designing the AWS infrastructure required to run it seamlessly.
Working closely with our existing cloud engineers, you will focus on building, modernising, and deploying scalable data processing applications. The ideal candidate thrives on end-to-end ownership, using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) to deploy cost-effective, high-performance AWS architectures that handle large-scale data efficiently.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Location: This role offers the flexibility to be performed either remotely or on a hybrid basis from our Head Office in Exeter. For candidates who are not based locally to Exeter, we are ideally seeking attendance at the office every two to three weeks to support team meetings, collaboration and relationship building. Ideally, this would involve two days in the office during each visit.
Key Responsibilities
- Application & Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain efficient Python applications for real-time telematics and large-scale data transformation.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Provision, manage, and scale secure AWS infrastructure using Terraform.
- Cost & Performance Optimisation: Architect solutions with a strong focus on cost-efficiency, low latency, and high throughput without compromising reliability.
- Cloud Architecture: Deploy serverless and containerised workloads using AWS services including Lambda, ECS, EC2, SQS, S3, and RDS.
- CI/CD & Automation: Implement andmaintainrobust CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, build processes, and cloud deployments.
- Monitoring & Operations: Set up performance monitoring and logging using AWS CloudWatch and X-Ray to ensure high availability and quick issue resolution.
- Dual Expertise: Strong background combining core Python software development with hands‑on AWS infrastructure deployment.
- AWS & Serverless: Hands‑on experience with core AWS services (S3, Lambda, ECS, SQS, RDS, EC2).
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proven experience deploying cloud environments via Terraform.
- Containerisation: Experience with Docker and container orchestration such as AWS ECS.
- Data Processing & ETL: Familiarity with data transformation strategies and handling high-volume data streams.
- Modern DevOps Practices: Proficient with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
Beneficial Experience
- Familiarity with agile processes in Jira is beneficial
- Familiarity with Java & C++ is beneficial
