Our mission is to push the boundaries of complex cell analysis. Using the Lightcast platform we are working with major pharmaceutical companies and leading academic institutes. Together, using our next generation microfluidic platform, we are making advances towards new science, unique clinical approaches, new therapies and innovative products.
The Lightcast platform allows precise and highly flexible independent control of thousands of microdroplets independently and in parallel using software-generated light patterns. By combining droplets containing different cells, antibodies, cancer drugs, reporters and /or other reagents we can perform complex workflows and assays with a flexibility far beyond what is currently possible on any cell analysis platform.

Lightcast Discovery is seeking a passionate and driven Field Application Scientist (FAS) to join our growing commercial team. This is a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge droplet microfluidics technology and play a central role in supporting both pre- and post-sales activities across the EMEA region.
As an FAS, you’ll become a subject matter expert in our proprietary technology and serve as a key customer advocate, ensuring our users are successful and fully empowered to explore complex biological questions using the Envisia platform. This role requires a hands-on scientist with excellent communication skills, scientific curiosity, and a customer-first mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver impactful scientific presentations (seminars, conferences, workshops, and virtual events) showcasing Lightcast’s capabilities.
- Conduct product demonstrations at customer sites, Lightcast HQ, tradeshows, and scientific meetings.
- Provide comprehensive training and onboarding to new users, ensuring rapid adoption and workflow integration.
- Offer expert technical and scientific support to customers, including troubleshooting, protocol optimization, and experimental design assistance.
- Develop a deep understanding of customer applications and translate this into actionable feedback for internal teams.
- Highlight and share customer success stories, emerging applications, and publications using Lightcast technology.
- Maintain active awareness of competitive technologies and relay relevant business intelligence to commercial leadership.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, R&D, and Product teams to support customer success and product innovation.
What You Bring
- BSc, MSc, or PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related life sciences field.
- 1–3 years of experience in a customer-facing role (e.g., FAS, support scientist, applications specialist) with innovative technologies.
- Strong hands-on expertise in cell and molecular biology techniques; cell culture and flow cytometry (FACS) experience is especially valuable.
- A proactive mindset with strong troubleshooting capabilities and scientific intuition.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex data clearly and confidently to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Flexibility, resilience, and a willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
