About the Role: You will be responsible for managing product specifications, ensuring compliance with technical, legal, and customer requirements, while also assisting with New Product Development (NPD) as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage product specifications to ensure compliance with all legal, technical, and customer requirements, following UK legislation and brand partner guidelines.
- Conduct technical artwork and back-of-pack checks to ensure all information meets regulatory standards.
- Verify product specifications for accuracy and ensure all technical details are correctly completed and compliant.
- Monitor the quality of incoming goods and ensure supplier specifications align with company standards.
- Lead investigations and manage customer complaints from a technical standpoint, ensuring swift and accurate resolutions.
- Maintain up-to-date technical records and accreditations for all suppliers, ensuring the business meets quality assurance standards.
- Provide technical support to NPD projects, assisting in product launches and ensuring technical requirements are met.
Key Duties:
- Manage supplier approvals via online brand platforms.
- Maintain up-to-date BRC, HACCP, and audit certifications for all suppliers.
- Ensure all product specifications meet legal, technical, and customer requirements, adhering to UK legislation and brand partner guidelines.
- Conduct technical artwork and back-of-pack (BOP) checks to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Verify and adjust supplier specifications for accuracy and suitability for the UK market.
- Monitor the quality of incoming goods, ensuring compliance with supplier specifications and company standards.
- Lead investigations into customer complaints, providing technical resolutions promptly.
- Track production quality for branded products, review test results from each production run, our manufacturing partners and complete QAS (Quality Attribute Sheets) after initial production runs.
- Organise and oversee nutritional analysis verification with laboratories for brand partners.
- Conduct shelf-life testing for all branded products.
- Perform competitive analysis, including market trends, competitor BOP declarations, and new product inspirations.
- Ensure quality checks by obtaining and maintaining samples from each production batch sent to LBV for licensed brands.
- Manage complaint resolutions from a technical perspective, ensuring continuous improvement.
Key Skills:
- Strong knowledge of UK food safety and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
- Ability to interpret complex technical documents and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Experience Required:
- Educated to a degree level in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Safety, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience working in a Quality Assurance (QA) or technical role within a food manufacturing environment—this may come from a university placement or a post-graduation role.
- Proven experience with retailer specification systems and product approval processes is desirable.
- In-depth technical understanding of UK specification writing, back-of-pack information, and artwork checks.
- HACCP and Food Safety certificates are highly desirable.
Salary & Benefits:
- Part-Time hours of 16 - 20 hours per week with a salary range of £15,000 - £20,000 pa based on your experience and preferred part-time hours.
- 25 days holidays + 9 bank holidays pro rata with part time hours worked.
