Are you passionate about improving attendance, supporting wellbeing, and helping young people succeed? We are looking for an Attendance & Wellbeing Lead to join our team at Lift Sir Herbert Leon. This key role supports students and families in overcoming barriers to attendance, engagement, and wellbeing, ensuring every young person has the opportunity to thrive.

About the role

You’ll take a proactive approach to improving attendance by working closely with students, families, school colleagues, and external agencies. Using attendance data and your knowledge of individual students, you’ll identify where support is needed and help implement effective interventions. You’ll also be a named Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), playing an important role in supporting student welfare and safeguarding across the academy.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyse attendance and punctuality, identifying trends and areas for intervention
  • Work directly with students and families to understand and overcome barriers to attendance
  • Undertake home visits where appropriate and support students to successfully reintegrate into school
  • Coordinate attendance interventions and work collaboratively with school colleagues and external agencies
  • Support students experiencing wellbeing or safeguarding concerns as a named DDSL
  • Build strong relationships with families, ensuring they can access appropriate support and services

We are looking for someone who

You’ll be an excellent communicator who can build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues and external professionals. You’ll be confident using data to identify patterns and inform decisions, with the resilience and empathy to manage sensitive and sometimes challenging situations. You’ll have GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths, experience of working with and motivating young people, and a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Previous experience within education, attendance or working with external agencies would be advantageous. A full UK driving license is essential as home visits form part of the role.
