We are seeking to appoint a caring, patient and dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide individual support for a pupil with communication and interaction needs who is developing their acquisition of language. You will provide tailored 1:1 support in class, as well as individualised interventions, helping to ensure the student can access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their goals.

Lift Plumberow is a vibrant and high achieving three form entry primary school in the heart of Hockley, educating around 650 pupils from Reception to Year 6. About the role

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and external professionals to support the child's communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and engagement in learning. The role will involve implementing personalised strategies and interventions to help the pupil access learning and achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support.
  • Support the development of communication and language skills using appropriate strategies and resources.
  • Foster positive relationships and encourage social interaction with peers.
  • Assist with the implementation of individual learning and support plans.
  • Promote independence, confidence and emotional wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents and external agencies.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working with children with ASD and/or speech, language and communication needs or who is keen to develop this experience.
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy and a child-centred approach.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is committed to inclusion and supporting every child to succeed.
  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable).
