Mini‑bus driver
Salary: £12.85 per hour + wellbeing cash plan + pension scheme (LGPS) + additional Lift Schools benefits.
School: Lift Broadlands, St Francis Road, Keynsham, Bristol, BS31 2DY.
Contract type: Permanent, term‑time only. Hours will roughly be 7.30am‑9.00am and 2.30pm‑3.45pm. Start: September.
Overview
This is a term‑time only mini bus driver position at Lift Broadlands, a small, inclusive secondary school located in Keynsham. The role involves transporting students safely to and from school while maintaining professional conduct and vehicle standards.
Responsibilities
- Collect and transport students to and from school safely.
- Ensure all students wear seatbelts and supervise boarding and disembarking, enforcing a one‑person‑per‑seat rule.
- Perform daily vehicle checks, including first aid kit, fire extinguisher, and gangway clearance.
- Carry out routine weekly maintenance such as washing, checking fluid levels, and keeping the vehicle clean and roadworthy.
- Refuel the vehicle as required.
- Proceed with Health & Safety procedures to remove occupants safely in case of vehicle breakdown.
- Promote safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance and professional appearance.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with residents, staff, pupils, contractors, and other guests.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold a valid driving licence with experience driving a larger vehicle in a customer‑facing role, ideally with community groups, schools or sports clubs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. First Aid qualification is desirable, or a willingness to complete training will be considered.
