About the Role

TELUS Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Counsellor to join our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) team. You'll provide short-term, solution-focused counselling via telephone and video sessions, helping clients navigate life's challenges and build resilience. Location: Anywhere in UK || Remote || Permanent, Full-Time, 35 Hours a week

Role & Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive assessments and short-term counselling interventions using a brief solution-focused counselling model.
  • Identify client needs and refer to appropriate internal and external resources to ensure holistic support.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate case notes and submit files in accordance with clinical policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Meet clinical objectives and KPIs as defined by Clinical Management.
  • Undertake mandatory E-Learning modules and attend training sessions to stay current with best practices.
  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgment in assessing risks related to child welfare, suicide/self-harm, substance abuse, and other safeguarding concerns.
  • Utilize computer systems for appointment scheduling, client record management, and organizational information retrieval.
  • Keep abreast of relevant regulatory and legislative developments in mental health practice.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings, monthly one-to-one clinical supervision with your manager, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Attend regular external clinical supervision with a qualified supervisor to maintain clinical best practice.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Currently Registered/Accredited membership with a recognized professional association (BACP or equivalent).
  • If not accredited, then must hold a minimum Diploma Level 7 in Counselling or equivalent qualification (including completion of 100 hours organizational placement).
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience working directly with clients.
  • Completed a minimum of 450 clinical hours.
  • Proven experience in assessment and short-term counselling delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience with brief solution-focused counselling models and telephone/video counselling delivery.
  • Strong capability in identifying and managing risk across child welfare, suicide/self-harm, substance abuse, and other safeguarding domains.
  • Strong clinical judgment, understanding of confidentiality responsibilities, excellent work ethic, and professional conduct.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, cultural competency, and interpersonal abilities.
  • High-speed internet connection (essential for remote working) and proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), MS Teams, OneNote, and SoftPhone systems.
  • Ability to work full-time, 35 hours per week over 5 days with flexibility to choose a fixed schedule.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Advanced clinical training or specialization in brief therapy models.
  • Experience working within EAP or occupational health settings.
  • Familiarity with specific client populations (e.g., workplace mental health, stress management).
  • Experience with mental health information systems or EAP platforms.
  • Additional therapeutic qualifications or certifications beyond the minimum requirement.
  • Strong IT literacy and comfort with remote working technologies.
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary clinical team environment.
