More about the Role

Make a Difference in the Lives of Adults with Learning Disabilities! We’re looking for additional bank staff to support our core team at Sesame, covering annual leave and sickness. Our shifts are typically 12 hours, with a paid break.

You’ll be joining our committed team, working to provide our residents with personalised, high-quality support. Your day-to-day tasks will vary, but will include:

  • Delivering high-quality personal care, ensuring dignity and respect are always maintained.
  • Assisting residents in developing independence and achieving their goals.
  • Creating engaging activities and supporting participation.
  • Contributing to a positive and supportive home environment.
  • Working as a team to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.

We maintain staffing ratios of 1:2 for night shifts and either 1:1 or 2:1 for day shifts, depending on the residents’ needs. With four permanent residents, even those working bank or casual shifts will quickly become familiar with both our residents and the team.

About you

We’re looking for individuals who:

  • Are able to work with the flexibility of shifts, sometimes with minimal notice, to ensure that the residents have the right staffing at the right time.
  • Are caring and compassionate, with an understanding of person-centred care.
  • Possess excellent communication skills (experience with non-verbal communication, such as Makaton, BSL, or PECS, is advantageous).
  • Ideally, have experience supporting people with learning disabilities in a residential setting (other relevant experience is also welcome).
  • Are flexible, adaptable, and responsive to changing needs.
  • Understand safeguarding and risk assessments.

Job Benefits

We’re passionate about supporting our staff just as much as we are about supporting our service users. When you join our team, you can expect:

  • A Real Living Wage, plus rolled-up holiday pay equivalent to 28 days per year (pro rata).
  • A fully funded DBS check and update service to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
  • Access to valuable resources, including an employee assistance programme to support your mental and emotional health.
