Our client, a leading international lifestyle and sportswear brand house, is seeking an experienced Garment Technologist to join its growing product team. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a portfolio of established and emerging lifestyle, sportswear and fashion brands, collaborating with Design, Product Development and global manufacturing partners to deliver innovative, high-quality products.

Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire, UK SG1 1.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring exceptional fit, quality, performance and consistency across multiple product categories. Experience within sportswear, athleisure, lifestyle apparel or fashion brands is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Design and Product Development teams to translate concepts into commercially successful garments.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical specifications and workbooks for factory development and sample submissions.
  • Measure and assess Proto, SMS, Pre-Bulk, PPS and Shipment Samples ahead of fit sessions.
  • Develop technical packs and specifications for both inline collections and SMU programmes.
  • Review and maintain grading and sizing standards across menswear and womenswear product categories.
  • Conduct garment fittings and implement improvements to fit, construction and performance.
  • Lead fit sessions and communicate technical comments and solutions to overseas factories.
  • Review samples throughout the development process and recommend product improvements.
  • Establish and maintain quality standards across all product categories.
  • Ensure garments meet performance, durability, functionality and compliance requirements.
  • Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to achieve consistency in fit and construction.
  • Approve or amend samples at each stage of development and production.
  • Monitor critical paths and resolve technical or manufacturing issues.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with quality, ethical and sustainability standards.
  • Maintain approval trackers and accurate technical records throughout each season.
Candidate Profile
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Garment Technologist within sportswear, lifestyle, fashion or apparel brands.
  • Technical understanding of pattern cutting and garment construction.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrics, textiles, garment manufacturing, grading, fitting and garment measurement.
  • Experience creating technical specifications and managing product development processes.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Commercially aware with a proactive problem‑solving mindset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience working with sportswear, activewear, athleisure or performance apparel is advantageous.
