MAIN JOB SUMMARY:
Lifeline Projects is seeking a passionate and committed Junior Youth Development Worker to join our team. The role involves mentoring a caseload of 10 students in a school setting, providing one-to-one guidance, encouragement, and personal development support. You will plan and deliver 3-4 positive activities each week (such as sport, arts, personal development sessions or youth clubs), undertake detached and outreach work, to engage young people, build resilience, and promote wellbeing.
You will ensure that all sessions are recorded on Salesforce, maintaining clear records of mentoring, attendance, progress, and safeguarding. The young people engaged are likely to be on the edge of school exclusion, with mental health concerns or involvement in Serious Youth Violence. Interventions are designed to support transitions away from risk and towards positive outcomes.
You will deliver engaging, safe, and skill-building activities that meet the needs of the youth in your community. You will be a frequent presence at sessions that meet the following objectives:
- Provide a safe place and meaningful activity.
- Embed mentoring with longer-term support.
- Foster new and positive friendships.
- Increase social capital by connecting with other YDWs, volunteers, and Ambassadors.
- Develop leadership skills.
Through these activities you will identify and train young people to become agents for change within their community through our ambassador programme.
This role is ideal for someone who is motivated, reliable, and passionate about helping young people reach their potential.
This role is being performed well when you:
- Confidently engage with young people and stakeholders.
- Maintain a full mentoring caseload of 10 young people with high mentoring attendance.
- Complete administrative tasks efficiently, including logging mentoring sessions, attendance, and case notes accurately on Salesforce (training provided).
- Support the youth team and programme when on the street, in mentoring sessions and positive activities.
- Support young people on the edge of school exclusion, with mental health issues or Serious Youth Violence through after-school 1-2-1s, positive activities and holiday programmes.
- Support the programme and meet key performance indicators in line with funding outcomes.
- Help young people engage in the programme process and make safe choices.
- Support LifeLine’s wider objectives of keeping young people in education with improved attendance, behaviour and wellbeing.
- Uphold LifeLine’s positive reputation with young people, parents, schools and the community.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENT

- Knowledge of and understanding for Specialist activities: Dance, Sports, Arts, Gym etc.

- Level 2 in English & Maths or equivalent
