We are seeking a highly organised and technically capable Project Engineer with proven experience in the defence sector or similarly regulated industries. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on exposure to engineering documentation, defence standards (MIL‑STD, DEF STAN), fire suppression systems, and safety‑critical engineering practices across the full project lifecycle from planning through to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
- Produce and maintain key project documentation including customer reports, technical documentation, BOMs, control plans, DVPs and FAIR support.
- Lead technical troubleshooting and ensure accurate, traceable documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage detailed supplier liaison, ensuring compliance with technical and contractual requirements.
- Support internal and external gate reviews, audits, and customer meetings.
- Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project plans in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
- Ensure adherence to MIL‑STD, DEF STAN, and other relevant defence documentation and testing standards.
- Coordinate engineering change requests (ECRs) and ensure configuration control is maintained.
- Monitor project risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating where appropriate.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and project delivery.
- Work independently and autonomously while maintaining strong communication with stakeholders.
- Oversee and support activities related to fire suppression systems, including requirements validation, compliance assessment, integration considerations, and safety documentation.
- Ensure all project activities align with defence safety frameworks, including hazard identification, risk mitigation, and compliance with safety‑critical engineering processes.
What You Will Need
- An engineering qualification such as HNC, HND, or BEng.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience delivering engineering projects within defence, aerospace, or other safety‑regulated industries.
- Awareness or experience of engineering practices within regulated, safety‑critical environments, including exposure to fire suppression technologies or safety‑related subsystems.
- Strong understanding of engineering documentation processes and test standards (MIL‑STD, DEF STAN, etc.).
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and drive tasks to completion.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem‑solving skills.
