The salary is up to £30,000 (DOE) plus company benefits. This role ensures our veterinary audiences receive trusted, high-quality peer-reviewed content that supports clinical practice, professional development and the continued growth of two leading specialist journals. As Editor of The Veterinary Nurse and UK-VET Livestock, you will take editorial responsibility for two respected peer-reviewed journals within MA Healthcare. Reporting to the Editorial Manager, you will shape, commission and deliver high-quality clinical content for a specialist readership of veterinary nurses and livestock practitioners.

As Editor, You Will:

  • Edit and produce The Veterinary Nurse, which is published 10 times annually, and UK-VET Livestock, published 6 times a year, including related publications and projects, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely delivery.
  • Commission high-quality clinical and research-led content and manage the full peer review process.
  • Write editorials, headlines and captions, and oversee page layouts using Adobe InDesign.
  • Liaise with consultant editors and editorial boards, arranging regular board meetings for each title.
  • Collaborate with Editorial Managers and the Commercial Manager on special projects that support commercial growth and strengthen the profile of the journals.
  • Manage agreed editorial budgets responsibly and effectively.
  • Represent the journals at relevant conferences, exhibitions and press launches, working to widen their visibility and reach.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience in a similar editorial or publishing role, ideally within healthcare, medical or veterinary publishing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence liaising with authors, reviewers, editorial boards and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and familiarity with other relevant publishing tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience working with clinical or research-led content.
  • Knowledge of the veterinary or wider healthcare sector.
  • Experience representing a publication at conferences or industry events.
