The Sales Designer is the bridge between sales, design intent, and delivery clarity. At Life Space Cabins, we design and craft exceptional small spaces that enhance the lives of those who use them. We prioritise the quality of design and construction over volume.
Your role is to turn a great enquiry into a clear, buildable project by guiding clients through options, scope, and early design decisions, while helping clients find the right route, whether that is within our defined product range or, where appropriate, through a bespoke project. This role exists to protect design resources, bring calm and clarity to the front end, and ensure every sold project enters production with a frozen brief, accurate expectations, and controlled complexity.
The Sales Designer owns the definition of what is being sold, with care, integrity, and craftsmanship at the centre.
Position in the Organisation
- Reports to: Jamie (Founder / Commercial Lead)
- Works closely with: Ops Manager, Design Lead, Marketing
- Interfaces with: Clients, consultants, and suppliers at a light pre-contract level
- Does not manage: Workshop, site delivery, or detailed technical design
The Sales Designer sits between marketing led lead generation and operations led delivery.
Core Responsibilities
These responsibilities sit at the heart of our promise to under-promise, over-deliver. The Sales Designer helps ensure every project begins with clarity, integrity, and a buildable brief.
Client Consultation & Qualification
- Lead structured consultations for Signature cabins, Stay Hut, and selected bespoke enquiries
- Assess client suitability, budget realism, site constraints, and programme alignment
- Guide clients toward the right product tier and scope
- Identify early red flags before design time is committed
Outcome: only well-qualified, aligned projects progress.
Design-Led Sales Process
- Use predefined consultation frameworks and option packs
- Guide clients through form, layout, spec, and upgrade decisions
- Maintain control of scope and avoid uncontrolled bespoke creep
- Translate client aspirations into clear, bounded design intent
Outcome: clients feel guided and confident, not overwhelmed or indulged.
Pre-Design Definition
- Produce the agreed design brief for handover to the design team
- Define: Cabin type and form, Layout and key dimensions, Specification level and options, Site assumptions and exclusions
- Ensure assumptions are explicit and documented
Outcome: design team receives a clean, buildable brief with no ambiguity.
Pricing & Quotation Support
- Build pricing using approved models and modular cost structures
- Ensure all upgrades, exclusions, and provisional items are clear
- Support the production of magazine-style quotes and spec summaries
- Maintain pricing consistency with transparency and integrity
Outcome: quotes feel clear, honest, and aligned with the Life Space standard.
Client Expectation Management
- Set clear boundaries on what is included and what is not
- Educate clients on process, timelines, and decision gates
- Reduce downstream change requests through upfront clarity
- Act as the primary commercial point of contact until contract
Outcome: fewer surprises, fewer variations, smoother delivery.
What the Sales Designer Does Not Do
- Full bespoke architectural design
- Detailed technical drawings or construction detailing
- Project management or site coordination
- Negotiation that undermines pricing integrity
- Chasing unsuitable or misaligned clients
This role protects focus as much as it drives sales.
Key Skills & Attributes
- Strong spatial and design literacy
- Commercial awareness and pricing confidence
- Calm authority with clients
- Structured thinker, comfortable with frameworks
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Comfortable saying no or reframing client requests
Essential Skills

Measures of Success

- Well-defined, buildable briefs handed cleanly into Delivery Design
- Client confidence and satisfaction at handover

Why This Role Matters
At Life Space Cabins, quality over quantity is not a slogan, it is how we operate. Without a Sales Designer, we risk:
- Overloading design resource

- Informal commitments that create downstream friction
With a Sales Designer, we gain:
- Higher quality, better-defined projects
- Confident clients and calmer delivery
- Protection of the craft and standards we care deeply about

This role helps us under-promise, over-deliver, and build exceptional spaces with care, intention, and individuality.
