The Role:
We’re currently seeking a Business Development Manager for a full-time, hybrid role. You’ll work three days per week with the team in central London (Waterloo/Southwark) and the remainder remotely. This is a fast-paced, dynamic opportunity with significant potential for career progression.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring the market to stay informed about industry trends and generating new leads
- Managing the entire sales cycle from prospecting to closing deals, as well as maintaining long-term client relationships
- Contributing to inbound lead generation strategies via targeted campaigns, social media, and digital promotions
- Taking full responsibility for reselling and upselling to selected existing clients, ensuring high standards and meeting specific timelines
- Maintaining accurate records of activity, market feedback, and sales pipelines in the CRM to help refine product strategies, improve forecasting, and expand market coverage
- Collaborating closely with customer success, editorial, and marketing teams to design, execute, and measure the success of client campaigns
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in a B2B sales role, preferably within publishing, media sales, or exhibitions/conferences. Familiarity with the pharma/biotech sector is a plus
- A background in consultative sales, including the creation of tailored, multi-product proposals
- A proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets, with a focus on both new business acquisition and account growth
- Demonstrated ability to learn new sectors or technologies quickly to build trust with clients and engage in in-depth consultative discussions
- Experience working collaboratively to deliver outstanding client results
- Strong sales skills, customer focus, and excellent time management
