Our client are currently recruiting for a Lab Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. As Lab Manager you will have overall responsibility for leadership, management, and performance of the lab. You will have oversight of daily operations, sample throughput, laboratory analysis, resourcing, quality systems, and client communication. The role ensures full compliance with BS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards while driving continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and high-quality service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and management of all laboratory operations, ensuring efficient and effective day-to-day running.
- Oversee sample throughput, ensuring timely and accurate analysis in line with client and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure full compliance with ISO 17025:2017 and all relevant quality standards.
- Lead, develop, and manage laboratory staff, including training, performance management, and succession planning.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement new systems aligned with business and quality strategy.
- Maintain robust quality control systems and ensure adherence to SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
- Act as the primary point of contact for client communications regarding technical and operational matters.
- Ensure appropriate resource planning, including staffing, equipment, and consumables.
- Oversee calibration, maintenance, and validation of laboratory equipment.
- Lead internal audits and support external audits and accreditation processes.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve non-conformances, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure the laboratory environment is safe, compliant, and maintained to a high standard, including waste management.
- Promote and enforce a strong health and safety culture within the laboratory.
