Life Journey is expanding our support network to meet growing demand across the whole of Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, London and surrounding areas. We are building a bank of dedicated SEMH and SEND mentors, tutors, and specialists who share our holistic Life Journey philosophy – empowering individuals through personalised, strengths-based support that nurtures long‑term growth, resilience, and independence.

About the Role

We are recruiting a pool of experienced SEMH and SEND professionals to support our growing caseload of children and adults. As a Life Journey mentor/tutor, you will deliver high‑quality, individualised support that aligns with our philosophy of holistic personal development, resilience building, and long‑term life skills. Work is offered on a flexible, as‑needed basis to meet rising demand across Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, London and surrounding areas. Hours are not guaranteed but are expected to increase as we expand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver one‑to‑one mentoring, tutoring, and coaching sessions tailored to the individual's SEMH and/or SEND needs.
  • Support clients in areas such as emotional regulation, social skills, self‑esteem, behaviour strategies, academic progress, and transition planning.
  • Work with children (primary through to young adults) and adults in educational, community, or home settings.
  • Develop and adapt session plans using the Life Journey philosophy and tools provided during training.
  • Maintain accurate records, progress notes, and communicate effectively with families, schools, and other professionals (as required).
  • Uphold safeguarding standards and promote a positive, inclusive, and empowering environment.
  • Attend initial and ongoing training in the Life Journey approach.

Relevant professional experience working with SEMH and/or SEND children and/or adults (e.g., teaching assistant, mentor, tutor, counsellor, coach, therapist, or similar). Strong understanding of SEMH needs and SEND frameworks (including EHCPs where applicable). Excellent communication, empathy, and relationship‑building skills. Ability to work flexibly and independently across Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, London and surrounding areas. Commitment to the Life Journey philosophy of holistic, person‑centred support. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one). Right to work in the UK. Formal qualifications in education, special needs, psychology, counselling, or related fields. Experience delivering interventions in emotional literacy, behaviour support, or life skills. Availability during school hours, after‑school, evenings, or weekends.
