Waverley Care Centre – Registered Nurse
Reporting to: Unit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring quality patient care and participating in rehabilitation programs for mental health care patients.

A vacancy has arisen for a Registered Nurse at Waverley Care Centre reporting to Unit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring quality patient care and participating in rehabilitation programs for mental health care patients.
Critical Outputs
- Effective ward operations: Daily care rounds, ensuring patient satisfaction.
- Provide accurate, appropriate, and adequate information to patients and family members.
- Ensure professional ethical practice in the Unit.
- Provide and supervise individualized, specific nursing care.
- Participate in CPD programs, in-service training, and on-the-spot teaching.
- Maintain quality patient care standards.
- Maintain effective relationships with MDT members and customers.
- Participate in rehabilitation and climate meetings.
- Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Record keeping: ensure records are accurately completed and stored in accordance with legal and ethical requirements.
People Management
- Interact and communicate with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Provide training and development to support personal and professional growth.
- Supervise lower categories.
- Run in-service trainings and ward meetings.
- Assist Unit Manager in controlling absenteeism and abuse of sick leave in the ward.
- Delegate tasks to juniors and ensure completion.
Governance and Risk Management
- Ensure correct use of stock and equipment.
- Maintain effective control of patient consumables.
- Ensure a safe environment for patients and employees.
- Ensure employees use and handle PPE correctly.
- Strive for a low rate of incidents.
Requirements
- Grade 12/NSC
- Must be a Registered Nurse and be registered with SANC.
- Experience in Chronic Psychiatry/rehabilitation is an advantage.
- Ability to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to fulfill a ward role according to the flexi-hours system, including day and night duties.
- Other competencies: strong customer orientation, team player, energetic, well organized, and able to work with psychiatric patients.
