Head Dental Nurse – Manchester
Join Life at Smart Dental Care as Head Dental Nurse, leading the nursing team with a patient‑first approach and contributing to clinical excellence.
Responsibilities
Clinical & Leadership Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist and hygienists during clinical procedures, delivering safe, effective chairside support
- Maintain and oversee infection control and sterilisation protocols, ensuring compliance and CQC standards
- Supervise decontamination processes and cleanliness of the clinical environment
- Lead on clinical governance, including regular practice audits and CQC compliance
Administrative & Team Management
- Mentor and manage the dental nursing team, including inductions, performance supervision, and training
- Coordinate staff rotas and ensure adequate coverage for clinic sessions with the Practice Manager
- Oversee stock levels, equipment maintenance, and ordering of consumables
- Assist the Practice Manager in the smooth operational running, recruitment, and process implementation
Patient & Quality Focus
- Support patient care throughout the visit, ensuring comfort, reassurance, and high standards of service
- Provide oral health education and guidance to patients, fostering positive, lasting experiences
What We’re Looking For
- Active registration with the General Dental Council (GDC)
- At least 2+ years’ experience in dental nursing, with evidence of leadership or enhanced responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of compliance and clinical governance principles
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
- Proactive, supportive, and resilient attitude, with a passion for team development and quality care
Schedule & Hours
- Monday – Friday
- Saturday (one per month)
- Hours to be agreed during the interview
