A vacancy has arisen for a Field Service Engineer for our Ship to Shore Cranes (STS), Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTG) & Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes (RMG).
The role contributes to the success of Liebherr‑Great Britain Ltd by carrying out effective maintenance and repair work on equipment at customer premises or on site, ensuring both quality standards and timelines for repair are optimised at all times, leading to increased customer confidence and repeat business whilst working within the Company’s key result areas;

- Your Responsibilities As a Field Service Engineer
- Carry out, service, inspection and repair of all Ship to Shore Cranes (STS), Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTG) & Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes (RMG) products and equipment at customer premises or on site or, if required, at the appropriate depot.
- Electrical and PLC fault diagnosis and repair.
- Hydraulic fault diagnosis and repair.
- Diesel engine service and repair (desired).
- Working at heights.
- Assisting in repair, building and dismantling of both Ship to Shore and Rail/Rubber Tyre Gantry Cranes.
- Work to reasonable deadlines and manage own time to comply with company expectations.
- Work closely with Technical for support and training.
- Diagnose specific fault issues and act appropriately.
- Return all warranty and other return parts cleaned and on time, ensuring correct processes for packing and labelling.
- Ensure all service information is read, understood and filed.
- Undertake all work strictly in compliance with manufacturer guidelines and recommendations.
- Escalate the appropriate action in relation to broken or damaged company equipment.
- Develop an effective working relationship with the support team at the depot and support others where required.
- Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for self and others through a clear understanding of workplace safety requirements and systems.
- Support the roles of others, ensuring administration and paperwork is completed effectively and on time as and when required.
- Develop outstanding rapport and relationships with all customers.
- Coordinate with the customer ensuring that customer needs are understood and that a flexible approach is adopted to meeting their needs.
- Work with the customer in mind, making sure that quality work standards are maintained consistently and that, post‑work, the repair site is clean and left in a condition that satisfies the customer.
- Work in accordance with the company quality assurance guidelines.
- Be able to effectively contribute to recognising and improving work processes so as to drive greater efficiency.
- Ensure that self‑image is a key contributor to promoting company business, and always maintain both personal image and vehicle condition and cleanliness to an exceptional standard.
- Proactively seek new opportunities to develop personal skills and look at opportunities out in the field to apply these.
- Perform any other duty as required by management commensurate with the post.
- Work additional hours as reasonably required to undertake the described duties and be available to work a rota based out‑of‑hours customer support, if such a programme is implemented.
- To be successful in the Field Service Engineer role
The successful candidate will require the following
- GCSEs grade A to C (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- Completion of a recognised apprenticeship to NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a related industry.
- Electrical and PLC knowledge.
- Full clean driving licence.
