As the Senior Energy Management Consultant you’ll be responsible for the operational efficiency and sustainability of our building portfolio. You will lead the "Demand Side" of the energy strategy, focusing on reducing consumption, managing the ISO 50001 Energy Management System (EnMS) and identifying technical innovations to drive the business toward its Net Zero targets. You will work closely with the Utilities Manager to manage the implementation of our energy strategy, helping the team optimise energy procurement and consumption.

What you'll do:

  • Energy Management Representative (EnMR) for our ISO 50001 certificate, ensuring the management system remains certified.
  • Energy management subject matter expert for the Board and Senior Leadership, including in annual Management Reviews.
  • Lead the energy optimisation cycle, resolving anomalies across the entire estate (stores, regional distribution centres and offices).
  • Realise energy efficiency projects from idea to implementation.
  • Define and monitor Energy Key Performance Indicators (EnPIs) regularly, generating meaningful efficiency metrics for Regional FM teams.
  • Monitor IT systems, ensuring accurate data collection with high levels of connectivity and plausibility.
  • Provide technical support to the company on behalf of the energy team, discussing BMS systems, metering, SEUs and new technologies.
  • Develop and monitor operational energy targets, managing action plans to achieve long‑term energy reduction goals.
  • Responsible for maintaining our portfolio of on‑site Solar PV systems across the estate.
  • Support the team in maintaining Lidl’s growing Electric Vehicle Charge Point portfolio.

What you'll need:

  • Significant experience managing energy efficiency in a multi‑site retail or commercial environment (supermarket experience is highly advantageous).
  • Proven track record of implementing or maintaining ISO 50001 standards.
  • Understanding of HVAC, refrigeration, and lighting control systems and strategies.
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis and tools to interrogate and make sense of large datasets.
  • Ability to present and influence operational change across diverse departments, from regional teams to board level colleagues.
  • Understanding of UK energy legislation, including ESOS, SECR, and building regulations.
  • Willingness to travel within GB and internationally with the occasional overnight stay.
